WEBVTT
00:00:15.451 --> 00:00:21.564
Hello everyone, thank you again for joining me on another episode of the DorsiRoss show.
00:00:21.564 --> 00:00:24.516
Today we have a special guest with us.
00:00:24.516 --> 00:00:26.422
His name is Tyler Cerny.
00:00:26.422 --> 00:00:48.417
He is an international and award-winning keynote speaker who travels around the world teaching students, athletes and young professionals and business owners how to align themselves with the life, with their lives and God's giving purpose.
00:00:48.417 --> 00:00:52.551
Tyler, thank you so much for coming on the show today.
00:00:53.435 --> 00:00:54.761
Amen, absolutely, george.
00:00:54.761 --> 00:00:56.286
It's always a pleasure to see you, man.
00:00:56.286 --> 00:00:59.277
You inspire me every day Grateful to be here and grateful to connect with you.
00:00:59.677 --> 00:01:00.381
Thank you, Tyler.
00:01:00.381 --> 00:01:15.884
I greatly appreciate that Open up with a few lighthearted questions, and the first one is what has been going on in your life recently that you expected and didn't expect.
00:01:17.670 --> 00:01:18.816
That's a great question, man.
00:01:18.816 --> 00:01:22.359
We'll keep it light and deep at the same time.
00:01:22.359 --> 00:01:25.419
Man, what's going on in something that I've expected and didn't expect?
00:01:25.419 --> 00:01:37.623
One of the things that I was thinking about and praying to the Lord before I got on this call, Dorsey, is how much sacrifice is needed to be a Christian right.
00:01:37.623 --> 00:01:39.752
Because, if you think about it, a lot of people when you first start in your spiritual walk, you're like, hey, I want to be a Christian right.
00:01:39.752 --> 00:01:51.066
Because, if you think about it, a lot of people when you first start in your spiritual walk, you're like, hey, I want to be saved, I want to go to heaven, I don't want to go to, you know, it's like all the consequences we want to avoid, right, and it's a very you know what's in it for us.
00:01:51.066 --> 00:01:59.782
And it's like, hey, we have this amazing partner with the Lord, point where it's like, okay, we want to follow Christ, we want to be a devout Christian.
00:01:59.782 --> 00:02:07.510
Well, what does that take?
00:02:07.510 --> 00:02:10.235
And that takes a lot on our sacrifice, discipline and obedience that we typically, you know, kind of overlook.
00:02:10.235 --> 00:02:14.644
And there's this thing that I saw and I kind of made it my own.
00:02:14.830 --> 00:02:19.812
But, you know, whenever we restart something, right, whether it's reading a book, whether it's reading the Bible.
00:02:19.812 --> 00:02:22.020
You know, there's certain passages that I remember.
00:02:22.020 --> 00:02:27.543
I'm on the seventh or eighth time through the Bible and I remember reading certain passages and they just go right over my head.
00:02:27.543 --> 00:02:37.950
I don't really understand them, but whether you start lifting weights, start reading a book, start doing something new, you have this delusional optimism for the future.
00:02:37.950 --> 00:02:40.659
You're like, hey, this is going to be the greatest and best thing ever.
00:02:40.659 --> 00:02:53.109
And then, once you start to get into it, then you become like an uninformed pessimist, where you just kind of like, man, this is a lot harder than I thought, I don't really know what I got myself into.
00:02:53.109 --> 00:03:07.491
And then, if we continue the journey, we're then going to become informed pessimists where it's like, okay, I know this journey is hard, I know what I need to do every single day to stay consistent to achieve the outcome.
00:03:07.491 --> 00:03:12.483
And in the final stage, if we don't give up and quit, we become informed optimists.
00:03:12.483 --> 00:03:18.593
It's like, hey, we finally start bearing fruits in our lives and we start getting the results that we started our initial journey on.
00:03:18.593 --> 00:03:23.938
Whatever that looks like our fitness journey, our spiritual journey, our business journey, whatever that looks like.
00:03:23.938 --> 00:03:30.090
It's like how many people have given up right before they see the breakthrough.
00:03:30.090 --> 00:03:31.555
And so you know.
00:03:31.736 --> 00:03:46.790
Your question is you know what's something that I expected but also didn't expect is I expected the Lord to move this past year and moving forward, but I didn't expect the amount of sacrifice and obedience and discipline that is needed to be a Christian every single day.
00:03:46.790 --> 00:03:55.514
And I think that's the power of faith and Christianity, and believing is that we don't have to do it all ourselves.
00:03:55.514 --> 00:03:59.242
And I always tell people this there's some days we'll all show up 70%.
00:03:59.242 --> 00:04:01.331
The Lord's going to meet me 30%.
00:04:01.331 --> 00:04:08.132
There's some days we'll all show up 99.99999%, but the Lord's still going to have to meet me.
00:04:08.192 --> 00:04:15.615
The final way, and there's some points that I'll show up 0.01% and the Lord's going to have to meet me 99.99999%.
00:04:15.615 --> 00:04:22.171
But either way we look at it, we're not whole, unless the Lord's part of our life, and so it's just a.
00:04:22.171 --> 00:04:23.733
You know to answer your question.
00:04:23.733 --> 00:04:48.970
To close the thought out, it's just the sacrifice, obedience and discipline is something that's needed for our growth, but it's something that takes time and only continues to get better, as you kind of put yourselves in these situations of discomfort and these situations of suffering, Because on the other side is salvation and on the other side, is everything that we want to achieve in our life.
00:04:49.471 --> 00:04:57.680
Yeah, and as Christians to go off of what you said there as Christians wouldn't everything be at that 100%.
00:04:57.680 --> 00:05:02.605
You know life, mentality, you know expectations, whatever.
00:05:02.605 --> 00:05:11.764
But like you said, even if we're at that 99%, god will help us to get to that 100%, because he's all we need anyway.
00:05:13.531 --> 00:05:18.752
Yeah, and the other thing with that is, if we try to do it all ourselves and we don't include the Lord, we're always going to have a little.
00:05:18.752 --> 00:05:27.502
We're always going to have a piece that's missing in our life Absolutely, and especially when you start seeing results in your life, in any area of life.
00:05:27.502 --> 00:05:32.487
It's like we as human beings, and something that I always like to remind myself.
00:05:32.487 --> 00:05:35.018
One of my favorite verses is Luke 14, verse 11.
00:05:35.018 --> 00:05:39.221
It says those who humble themselves will be exalted and those who exalt themselves will be humbled.
00:05:39.221 --> 00:05:41.483
And it says those who humble themselves will be exalted and those who exalt themselves will be humbled.
00:05:41.483 --> 00:05:41.783
And it's just.
00:05:41.804 --> 00:05:53.283
I still get chills sharing that verse because I remember when I first read that verse it smacked me up inside the head and it's like, wow, the closer we can get the less of us, the more we can have the Lord in our life.
00:05:53.283 --> 00:06:16.004
And that's something that is always a constant reminder I like to share in my life and other people is that you don't need to do it on your own and the results that you have in your life they're not because of you, they're partly because of you, but we always have to remember and stay humble to whose we are and who helped us to achieve the things that we have achieved in our life.
00:06:17.751 --> 00:06:23.072
If you had to eat one food a day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
00:06:24.537 --> 00:06:26.643
Well, that's a great question, because I love food.
00:06:26.643 --> 00:06:31.555
I'm here in Southern Texas and I want to just only have this.
00:06:31.555 --> 00:06:39.138
But there's this grocery store called H-E-B and they have these amazing butter flour tortillas.
00:06:39.138 --> 00:06:40.461
Man, I don't know what they do.
00:06:40.461 --> 00:06:42.153
They're like freshly made, they're amazing.
00:06:42.153 --> 00:06:47.715
But I like steak, so I have some sort of steak with these tortillas.
00:06:47.715 --> 00:06:53.194
I could probably eat that every day and that's pretty much what I do eat every day.
00:06:53.194 --> 00:06:55.658
I also like to just eat something a lot of.
00:06:55.658 --> 00:06:57.603
I like to eat a watermelon.
00:06:57.603 --> 00:06:58.790
I can eat a lot of watermelon.
00:06:58.790 --> 00:07:03.480
So watermelon or steaks, and butter flour tort flower tortilla is one of the two.
00:07:03.480 --> 00:07:17.790
So that's probably what I'd go with, but I'll probably go with steak because there's more protein and probably more sustainable okay, being from texas, I thought you would at least have said you know some type of barbecue yeah, no, that's true, I like brisket too.
00:07:17.850 --> 00:07:19.473
There's nothing wrong with some good brisket.
00:07:19.473 --> 00:07:22.637
I'm originally from Cleveland, but I live here in Texas now.
00:07:22.637 --> 00:07:24.959
But yeah, man, that's a good question.
00:07:24.959 --> 00:07:28.263
Man, I like all types of food, but barbecue is definitely up there too.
00:07:28.263 --> 00:07:31.067
Barbecue, sushi, steak, all that stuff.
00:07:32.490 --> 00:07:42.786
Have there been a time when you went from, a time in your life when you went from laughing to dealing with a difficult challenge?
00:07:44.730 --> 00:07:45.853
Wow, that's a good question.
00:07:45.853 --> 00:07:52.134
Yeah, I mean, one of the things I always share with people is the moment.
00:07:52.134 --> 00:07:59.376
So to give you some backstories, so essentially I was an athlete, hence the football behind me.
00:07:59.376 --> 00:08:03.444
I played college football, got a chance to play basketball overseas in Asia sports for my whole life.
00:08:03.910 --> 00:08:05.375
As I got out of that, I consulted.
00:08:05.375 --> 00:08:07.632
I got into consulting One of my mentors.
00:08:07.632 --> 00:08:11.221
He taught me he grew and scaled Salesforce up to 100 million.
00:08:11.221 --> 00:08:14.941
He taught me outbound sales strategies and how he built Salesforce to that level.
00:08:14.941 --> 00:08:22.004
And so as a consultant, what I did was I reached out to organizations and companies and said, hey, I would love to help you grow and scale your company.
00:08:22.004 --> 00:08:24.913
And they would say, how much do you charge?
00:08:24.913 --> 00:08:27.821
And I said, hey, I don't charge anything, but I just charge a percentage of each sale that we make.
00:08:27.821 --> 00:09:03.394
So with that it was a very low risk to enter, low barrier to enter, and with that our portfolio grew no-transcript relationships with beautiful women all the time.
00:09:03.394 --> 00:09:06.663
That was honestly my goal and when I achieved that, I ended up moving to Tampa and I got all that.
00:09:06.683 --> 00:09:17.384
I lived that lifestyle and I just remember one day waking up and I didn't want to wake up that morning I had this hit in my stomach.
00:09:17.384 --> 00:09:32.054
I'm one of those guys that always had the motivation, always had the drive to work hard and be up early and then, all of a sudden, just this desire and drive just wasn't there, no more.
00:09:32.054 --> 00:10:36.786
One of the reasons being is that the Lord was in my life, but it was whenever it was convenient for me, and that's something that I always tell people.
00:10:36.786 --> 00:10:39.464
I always ask people when I go to a keynote.
00:10:39.464 --> 00:10:43.693
I said what's the difference between someone who's committed or interested?
00:10:43.693 --> 00:10:46.046
Do you know the difference, dorsey?
00:10:47.759 --> 00:10:56.570
I would say, interested is once in a while, you know, once in a while you're interested in that situation or in that topic, or in that.
00:10:56.570 --> 00:11:01.375
You know passion that you have, but committed to living it each day.
00:11:02.620 --> 00:11:03.681
Right, absolutely, man.
00:11:03.681 --> 00:11:07.926
You know one of the ways I say this interested is you do whatever is convenient.
00:11:07.926 --> 00:11:10.069
Committed is you do whatever it takes right.
00:11:10.069 --> 00:11:20.964
So it's like I wasn't committed to this Christianity walk, right, and obviously we all fall short of the glory of God, but I was doing whatever was convenient for me and I remember this.
00:11:20.964 --> 00:11:22.529
What did change my life?
00:11:22.529 --> 00:11:25.207
And I was like man, what is missing.
00:11:25.207 --> 00:11:27.067
You know, this is everything I thought I wanted.
00:11:27.067 --> 00:11:39.009
You know, I had a financial, a successful business, had a great lifestyle, was in great shape, great relationships, all these things, but it was like I was still missing something and it was the Lord.
00:11:39.009 --> 00:11:43.187
It was the last piece and one of the things that changed my life.
00:11:43.267 --> 00:11:49.708
And I've heard this chapter before and I heard this verse before, but I wanted to read it, but it was John 15.
00:11:49.708 --> 00:11:54.541
You know, jesus is the true vine, I am the true grapevine and my father is the gardener.
00:11:54.541 --> 00:11:57.052
He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn't produce fruit.
00:11:57.052 --> 00:12:01.626
He prunes the branches that do bear fruit so that they will produce even more.
00:12:01.626 --> 00:12:05.281
You have already been pruned and purified by the message I've given you.
00:12:05.281 --> 00:12:13.146
Remain in me and I will remain in you, for a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.
00:12:13.146 --> 00:12:15.390
Yes, I am the vine, you are the branches.
00:12:15.390 --> 00:12:20.223
Those who remain in me and I and them will produce much fruit, for apart from me, you can do nothing.
00:12:20.223 --> 00:12:35.613
And that really hit home for me and that again, that was one of those verses that just smacked me up inside the head and I don't know if you had any of those specific verses in your spiritual walk to dor Dorsey, that just you read it and it just gave you this whole new perspective.
00:12:35.613 --> 00:12:39.670
But it was one of those things where it's like here's the vine, here are the branches.
00:12:39.670 --> 00:12:55.673
If you think about the role of branches to a tree, if you think about it, all the branches have to do is stay connected to the soil, because the moment they break off, they essentially become useless and they start dying.
00:12:55.673 --> 00:12:58.828
But if they stay connected, what's going to start to happen?
00:12:58.828 --> 00:13:01.348
They're going to start to flourish and start to produce results.
00:13:02.640 --> 00:13:05.466
I was like man at that point in my life.
00:13:05.466 --> 00:13:08.913
I was one of those guys that had a gold card.
00:13:08.913 --> 00:13:10.327
I was in the personal development.
00:13:10.327 --> 00:13:11.524
I write my goals down every day.
00:13:11.524 --> 00:13:18.695
I say with affirmations, all these different things, and I'm like, lord, I hear you, but we got work to do.
00:13:18.695 --> 00:13:19.900
I have a plan right here.
00:13:19.900 --> 00:13:21.684
I have something that I need to focus on.
00:13:23.448 --> 00:13:27.786
What radically shifted was that Luke 14, verse 11, those who humble themselves will be exalted.
00:13:27.786 --> 00:13:29.341
Those who exalt themselves will be humbled.
00:13:29.341 --> 00:13:36.201
I quickly got humbled and I realized that, lord, I don't want my plan, I want your plan.
00:13:36.201 --> 00:13:41.492
So what are you blessing around me and how can I play a small part in that?
00:13:41.492 --> 00:13:57.241
The thing that you're working around and that was probably, you know, close to four or five years ago now where that's the, that shift I made, really made it in my life, and now it's that verse of the true testament.
00:13:57.382 --> 00:14:11.867
Like every area of my life, I start to bear fruit, and one of the fruits that I tell people is peace, peace, joy, happiness, fulfillment, and it's not things of this world, it's things that only can be given through the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
00:14:11.867 --> 00:14:26.504
And so that was something where I was happy, got disappointed, and then the Lord what's cool, whoever's listening to this, the Lord's going to meet you with where you're at, whatever you did, whatever you did in the past or whatever lifestyle you're currently living.
00:14:26.504 --> 00:14:43.372
The Lord can meet you with where you're at, and he can turn a negative situation into a positive situation, and so that's going to be a situation that I was happy and then got disappointed because I quickly realized that my plan was inferior to the Lord's plan.
00:14:44.880 --> 00:14:51.829
What was it that made you say, hey, I need to be more committed to Christ.
00:14:51.829 --> 00:14:53.726
Was it a sermon you heard?
00:14:53.726 --> 00:14:58.227
Was it something you read, or was it just God speaking to you?
00:14:59.579 --> 00:15:00.765
Yeah, I mean, that's a great question.
00:15:00.765 --> 00:15:02.285
I think it was a mixture of things, right.
00:15:02.285 --> 00:15:08.209
I think it was a mixture of frustration and not being satisfied and just having this feeling in my gut.
00:15:08.209 --> 00:15:11.942
It's like I don't know what needs to happen, but something needs to change right.
00:15:11.942 --> 00:15:22.646
And then another thing is just surrounding myself with like-minded individuals, right, like surrounding myself with godly individuals, because the people that were on I was.
00:15:22.646 --> 00:15:29.035
You know, I wouldn't say they were bad people, but they were in a similar boat.
00:15:29.035 --> 00:15:36.440
They were just lukewarm Christians, right and and again, we, we all fall short of the glory of God.
00:15:36.440 --> 00:15:57.447
We all have different seasons in our life, but in that season of my life I needed to be with Christians who were on fire for the Lord, because through them I got to see and got to build my faith up around strong individuals, people within the church, within the community, and then radically changing and shifting everything.
00:15:57.487 --> 00:16:04.159
Man, it's like you know the social media that you're on, the music, that you're listening to everything.
00:16:04.159 --> 00:16:13.269
Is it adding and building and creating life into my life or is it, you know, taking it away and making me feel less?
00:16:13.269 --> 00:16:15.193
Is it making me feel anxious?
00:16:15.193 --> 00:16:25.873
Is it leaving me with less energy, like really take inventory of what I was doing and is it actually enhancing my life?
00:16:25.873 --> 00:16:32.361
And you know, a mixture of all those different things came to a point where it's like, hey, I need to make a change.
00:16:32.421 --> 00:16:36.572
And, being around it, there's a movie movie I don't know if you got a chance to see it.
00:16:36.572 --> 00:16:37.802
If you haven't, definitely check it out.
00:16:37.802 --> 00:16:39.767
It's called the forge on netflix.
00:16:39.767 --> 00:16:45.583
Yeah, check it out and anyone that's watching it's a great movie.
00:16:45.583 --> 00:16:47.468
It's this guy or it's this kid.
00:16:47.468 --> 00:16:48.991
He's like, I think, 16 year old kid.
00:16:48.991 --> 00:16:50.764
He's got a lot of issues.
00:16:50.764 --> 00:16:58.977
He's, you know, he know he's just, he's just a teenager and this guy takes him under his wing and he, he basically they call it the forge.
00:16:58.977 --> 00:17:04.841
It's because he has a group of men, christian men that he basically pours into and speaks the word of Christ over.
00:17:04.841 --> 00:17:17.073
His life gets radically changed in the movie and I don't want to give away anything, but that's a high level of what's possible when you can surround yourself with people that are on fire for the Lord.
00:17:17.073 --> 00:17:27.910
That's what's great with social media and the Internet now is that if I don't have anyone in proximity, I mean most If you live in the US, there's usually a Christian church you can get plugged into.
00:17:27.910 --> 00:17:49.072
But even if you're not close to anything or whatever your situation at home, you can put on a podcast, you could put on a video, you could put on a church service with someone that's filled with the Holy Spirit, because the Lord can work in a lot of different ways and the more you can surround yourself with that, your life's going to change.
00:17:49.179 --> 00:17:54.209
And the last thing, with that abiding in the word of Christ every single day that absolutely changed my life.
00:17:54.209 --> 00:17:56.473
When I read that verse, I was like you know what?
00:17:56.473 --> 00:18:01.250
I'm going to read the Bible every day and there's certain days where I may read one verse.
00:18:01.250 --> 00:18:08.740
It may be a busy day, but ever since that moment, I've never missed a day, like I've always been in the word of Christ.
00:18:08.740 --> 00:18:16.085
Because one of the things that I heard people say is you know, just listen to the Lord, you know hear, you know just just.
00:18:16.085 --> 00:18:17.730
You know communicate.
00:18:17.730 --> 00:18:21.964
And I always I remember hearing that and I said what does that even mean?
00:18:21.964 --> 00:18:26.582
What does that even mean to hear from the Lord Like is I'm supposed to be talked to?
00:18:26.582 --> 00:18:29.848
Well, you know, the Bible talks about it.
00:18:29.848 --> 00:18:30.709
In John one.
00:18:30.709 --> 00:18:42.422
It says the Lord, the word is God, the word was with God and the word is breathed by God, you know.
00:18:42.422 --> 00:18:42.702
So it's like.
00:18:42.702 --> 00:18:52.384
Those are the words that the Lord used vessels to share in the Bible, and so that is a living, breathing word that I can pour into my life every single day.
00:18:53.345 --> 00:19:02.576
Because once you start doing that, what starts to happen is you know, everyone knows, is pretty familiar with the Lord's Prayer.
00:19:02.576 --> 00:19:05.388
You know, our Father, who art in heaven.
00:19:05.388 --> 00:19:06.130
Hallowed be thy name.
00:19:06.130 --> 00:19:07.062
Thy kingdom come.
00:19:07.062 --> 00:19:09.590
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
00:19:09.590 --> 00:19:20.007
And that's the prayer is that when the Lord made Garden of Eden, there was so much abundance, there was gold, they had everything you needed.
00:19:20.902 --> 00:19:21.906
And what does the enemy do?
00:19:21.906 --> 00:19:30.884
He comes into the Garden of Eden and he deceives Adam and Eve and say, hey, don't you want this, don't you want to eat from this fruit of this tree over here?
00:19:30.884 --> 00:19:33.067
You guys don't have everything.
00:19:33.067 --> 00:19:36.789
You guys are missing out on this, and that's another thing.
00:19:36.789 --> 00:19:38.086
It's like what are we focusing?
00:19:38.086 --> 00:19:40.368
Are we focusing on what we're quote, unquote?
00:19:40.368 --> 00:19:48.874
Because if we're within the word of Christ and we're fully on board and we submit ourselves to the Lord, the Lord is everything.
00:19:48.874 --> 00:20:01.793
So we don't lack anything and the Lord operates with absolute excellence and abundance and prosperity, and so if we can align ourselves with that, then we're going to start to bear fruit.
00:20:02.519 --> 00:20:04.324
And that's something I did.
00:20:04.324 --> 00:20:05.226
I took inventory.
00:20:05.226 --> 00:20:13.176
I said, lord, if that's true, if you're saying this, it even goes later on and says where is it?
00:20:13.176 --> 00:20:17.557
I've told you these things that you'll be filled with joy.
00:20:17.557 --> 00:20:18.460
This is my commandment.
00:20:18.460 --> 00:20:22.394
And then he goes in to love each other, I have no longer.
00:20:23.671 --> 00:20:28.997
He basically says later on, it says whatever's your heart desire, I will grant you Right.
00:20:28.997 --> 00:20:35.610
And it's not because he's giving it to us because we want it, Like it's a genie in a bottle.
00:20:35.610 --> 00:20:42.634
It's because once our hearts desires start to become what the Lord desires for our life, then that's what starts to happen.
00:20:42.634 --> 00:20:50.162
Right, because it's written, and that's what I would say is abide in the word of Christ, start reading the Bible.
00:20:50.162 --> 00:20:52.538
That's going to be your best person of all in the book.
00:20:52.538 --> 00:21:18.217
If anything's going wrong, you're struggling financially, you're lacking happiness, you're struggling in your relationships, and I know I'm preaching to the choir here too, dorsey, but that really changed my life because when that got into my life, things that weren't serving me started to flee from my life, and I'm forever grateful, and you know that's why I'm even here on this podcast is to spread the good news too, man, and you know that's why I'm even here on this podcast is to spread the good news too.
00:21:18.237 --> 00:21:18.457
man, amen.
00:21:18.457 --> 00:21:20.798
Now you said that you played football in college.
00:21:20.798 --> 00:21:27.086
Where did you go to college and play football and how did you get into what you do today?
00:21:27.086 --> 00:21:27.987
Did you study it?
00:21:30.104 --> 00:21:30.305
Did you?
00:21:30.305 --> 00:21:32.295
Yeah, that's a great question.
00:21:32.295 --> 00:21:35.977
So yeah, in Cleveland, man, there's two things you play sports or you get in trouble.
00:21:35.977 --> 00:21:38.715
I did a little bit of both, but the sports kept me on track.
00:21:38.715 --> 00:21:45.098
And one of the things, basketball was always my passion, but football I was the best at just due to my size and stuff like that.
00:21:45.098 --> 00:21:48.352
And so there's a school called John Carroll University.
00:21:48.352 --> 00:21:50.976
It's a division three.
00:21:50.976 --> 00:21:57.065
It's funny because a lot of my coaches ended up making it to the NFL coaching staff.
00:21:57.065 --> 00:22:04.156
So I don't know if you saw, but the Houston Texans just recently, there's a player that shoved this coach.
00:22:04.156 --> 00:22:14.240
I don't know, it was on the headlines, but that coach that he shoved was actually one of my coaches and he was just super intense and I could see how emotions flare up during the game.
00:22:14.240 --> 00:22:17.355
But you know, football was.
00:22:17.355 --> 00:22:23.660
You know, sports really gave me a foundation because I was held accountable as a group of like-minded individuals.
00:22:23.660 --> 00:22:28.378
We had a strict schedule, so I was held to a schedule.
00:22:28.378 --> 00:22:30.652
I knew exactly what I needed to do In college.
00:22:30.711 --> 00:22:31.595
It's a full-time job.
00:22:31.595 --> 00:22:32.579
You got to watch film.
00:22:32.579 --> 00:22:34.596
You watch film for like an hour and a half.
00:22:34.596 --> 00:22:38.353
You go to class for three or four hours, you live for an hour and a half to two hours.
00:22:38.353 --> 00:22:39.994
You go to practice for three to four hours.
00:22:39.994 --> 00:22:42.896
Next thing, you know, you know you got to go to sleep.
00:22:42.896 --> 00:22:44.237
So it's like you know.
00:22:45.038 --> 00:22:46.959
My coach said this you can only have three things.
00:22:46.959 --> 00:22:50.622
You have social life, football and your academics.
00:22:50.622 --> 00:22:51.962
And so that's what he said.
00:22:51.962 --> 00:22:53.144
You can only have two out of the three.
00:22:53.144 --> 00:22:57.407
If you want to do good in school and be good at football, that's possible, but your social life is going to slap.
00:22:57.407 --> 00:23:02.341
If you're going to have a good social life, you're going to be good at football, but your academics are going to slap.
00:23:02.341 --> 00:23:06.019
If you want to have a good social life and good academics, then your football is going to slap.
00:23:06.019 --> 00:23:09.894
That's when you really got to get clear For me.
00:23:09.894 --> 00:23:13.859
I got to a point in my life where I knew I wasn't going to the NFL.
00:23:13.859 --> 00:23:15.502
I had to walk away from the game.
00:23:15.662 --> 00:23:26.257
Eventually I decided to double down on business and I always knew I wanted to go into business because I didn't want to be limited to what I could earn and what I could provide for my family.
00:23:26.257 --> 00:23:30.922
So I got into business because I love numbers and I love business.
00:23:30.922 --> 00:23:33.179
I was thinking about going into accounting.
00:23:33.179 --> 00:23:39.002
I saw a set and I was very involved in the community and on campus.
00:23:39.002 --> 00:23:43.640
I did a lot of things, but what I did was I interviewed accountants.
00:23:43.640 --> 00:23:46.499
I was like, hey, how do you like the profession?
00:23:46.499 --> 00:23:49.072
You know, is this enjoyable, like you know?
