Brad grew up on a small farm in Oregon. Farm life gave him the opportunity to learn the meaning of hard work. Farm life also gave him an appreciation for solitude. As the youngest of three siblings, Brad was the only child in the home from about the age of twelve until he left home at nineteen. The family moved to Eugene, Oregon, after Brad graduated from high school. Two years later, he moved to Portland to begin working at an electronics firm.
Brad first came to faith in Christ at the age of six. It is a decision
he has reaffirmed multiple times in his life. At the age of twenty-three,
God called him to attend Bible college in Los Angeles, California. He
attended LIFE Bible College and earned a BA in Bible with a minor
in biblical languages.
After college, Brad went to work as a model and mold maker in the golf club industry. For nine years, he developed his skills and eventually started a business with his college friend Rick. When the
industry changed in the 1990s, all the work went overseas, and the
domestic market crashed. Brad and Rick closed the business after Brad decided it was time to move back to Oregon. In 1995, he packed
up his wife and three-year-old daughter and moved back to an area
southwest of Portland.
Back in the Portland area, Brad went to work for an international
distribution company. His hard work and focus on making the team
stronger were recognized, and within a year, he was promoted to warehouse lead.
Brad went back to school in 1999, and in 2001, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business management from George Fox University. He continued to work hard and contribute to the success of the organization. When management consolidated, Brad’s boss took on more responsibilities. With the addition of more warehouses to manage, Brad was made the regional operations coordinator. He helped manage four service-oriented warehouse facilities in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Minnesota. Brad’s work as a leader, problem-solver, trainer, and technical writer contributed to developing and operating world-class business operations that were modeled in several new operations around the world.
Through the years, Brad’s faith in Jesus Christ has been an anchor in his life. Though he was never involved in professional ministry, Brad’s love for Scripture and his desire to help people in their walk with Christ have been a prominent focus.
In the nearly forty years since graduating from Bible college, he has taught Sunday school, led Bible studies, developed teachings for house-church settings, and held fast to faith in Christ. He has plans for a companion workbook for The Stranger’s Conflict and two more books related to the Stranger’s Life. Visit www.thestrangerslife.com for advance notice of future publications. There are also additional resources and a link to sign up for Brad’s weekly blog on the website.
Brad currently lives in Oregon with his wife, Valli. They have three adult children and attend a small country church. He retired in 2024 from corporate work as a business analyst to devote his life to writing and teaching.
